Hokies Football: 4-Star QB Dwayne Haskins Headlines Visitors for 2015 Spring Game

The 2015 Spring Game is almost here for the Hokies, and Virginia Tech has an extremely impressive group of recruits visiting Blacksburg this weekend. Coaches and analysts have been saying that this might be the strongest group of recruits to ever visit Virginia Tech for the Spring Game. The headline visitor this weekend is definitely 4-star QB Dwayne Haskins who has already been invited to Nike's The Opening in Eugene, Oregon and is a member of the Elite 11 for 2016. Haskins has had the Hokies on his radar and Virginia Tech now has a chance to make a move in his recruitment this weekend. Haskins is ranked as the 25th best recruit by the ESPN 300 while Rivals has him as the 65th best recruit, and the 247 Sports Composite has him as the 58th best recruit. The Potomac, Maryland QB is also seen as the second best player in Maryland by ESPN and the 247 Sports Composite while Rivals has him as Maryland's third best prospect. The Maryland native seems to be leaning towards schools that are closer to home with Maryland and Rutgers emerging as early leaders though Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech all seem to be lurking. Haskins's visit will be a great opportunity for the Hokies to build the foundation to make a strong push to get Haskins and beat out Maryland and Rutgers among others for this elite quarterback prospect. Another elite Maryland prospect will also be in Blacksburg in four-star wide receiver Tino Ellis. Ellis recently said that the Hokies were the leaders in his recruitment ahead of Maryland, and this chance will be a great opportunity for Ellis to spend a lot of time with WRs Coach Zohn Burden. Ellis will also get to probably spend some time with Cam Phillips who went to the same high school as Ellis. One thing the Hokies can definitely sell Ellis on is the chance for early playing time behind Isaiah Ford and Phillips with two of the four main guys battling for the third wide receiver spot graduating after this season. If this weekend goes well, the Hokies will be extremely hard to beat for Tino Ellis. The Hokies will also have a great chance to make another strong impression on the Lake Taylor High School defensive back duo of Wayne Davis and Keyvone Bruton. Bruton just recently transferred to Lake Taylor, but the duo seem to have a very good friendship that existed before Bruton's transfer. Davis and Bruton are two of the Hokies' top defensive back prospects with Davis definitely looking like someone that has the talent to make an early impact. This will be a great chance for Davis and Bruton to talk to Bud Foster and Torrian Gray, especially since Bryan Stinespring and Zohn Burden are the main guys involved in the recruitment of Davis and Bruton. Of course, there are plenty of other solid recruits visiting Blacksburg so check out our running list that will be updated as we hear of more players visiting Virginia Tech.
