Hokies Recruiting: Virginia Tech is in the Top 5 for Three-Star OLB/DE Brock Miller

The Virginia Tech Hokies hosted many top recruits from the classes of 2016, 2017, and even 2018 this past weekend with plenty of recruits enjoying their visits to Blacksburg. After getting 2016 OLB Emmanuel Belmar and 2017 DB Devante Smith five days before the Saturday Beamer cookout, the Hokies were able to gain multiple commits. This past Saturday, the Hokies gained commitments from two three-star recruits, OT Patrick Kearns and LB Tavante Beckett. Yesterday, the Hokies gained another commitment from WR Divine Deablo who is rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN and ranks 172nd in the ESPN 300. Meanwhile, the Hokies are now a finalist for another recruit who visited this past weekend and is set to announce his commitment on Thursday. https://twitter.com/TCPalmPrepZone/status/626112680084897792 Three-star OLB/DE Brock Miller of John Carroll High School in Vero Beach, Florida announced his top five of Virginia Tech, Virginia, Kentucky, N.C. State, and California after making visits to Charlottesville and Blacksburg this past week. Miller's announcement will be at 6pm on Thursday evening via the TC Palm newspaper's website. Miller is ranked as the 77th best outside linebacker by the 247 Sports Composite and the 63rd best outside linebacker by ESPN. Within Florida, Miller is ranked as the 161st best Sunshine State recruit by the 247 Sports Composite and 137th best by ESPN. Miller released a top eight not too long ago and has since eliminated Boise State, Mississippi State, and Minnesota to get to his top five. Miller has received 22 offers, 12 of which are from schools in the power five conferences. Brock Miller is a very good athlete, but is definitely a player that has the frame to add a lot more muscle while also still being a fairly raw football player. Miller seems likely to be an outside linebacker, but could also end up at defensive end with the Hokies being one program that could see him at either position. Of the final five teams for Miller, the Hokies seem to be the favorite. Virginia Tech received Miller's most recent visit, and the Florida recruit left very happy and impressed with the Hokies. The Hokies also now have all nine 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions after their very strong visit with Miller. Kentucky seems like the top challenger as the lone SEC representative left on the board. Proximity to home doesn't seem like too big of an issue for Miller, but the advantage of playing in the SEC has helped separate the Wildcats from the other top challengers against Virginia Tech. All five finalists for Miller have not had the most success over the past few seasons, but the Hokies' win over Ohio State and 22-year bowl streak have the advantage over these other programs. The Hokies seem like the favorites for Brock Miller, but don't rule out Kentucky or any of the other finalists for this three-star outside linebacker.
