Hokies Football: College GameDay is Coming Labor Day for Virginia Tech-Ohio State

During the 1999 and 2000 seasons, College GameDay couldn't seem to leave Blacksburg as the ESPN pregame show made THREE visits to Virginia Tech. Then, College GameDay left Blacksburg for years before returning twice in 2005, and then again in 2007 as a part of the first college football game in Blacksburg since the massacre. It's been eight years since College GameDay has been to Blacksburg for football after the show came for basketball on February 26, 2011 as the Hokies got the job done and took down the #1 Duke Blue Devils. However, the football drought is about to end. https://twitter.com/CollegeGameDay/status/628254198723948545 https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/628249129953660928 https://twitter.com/Beamer_Ball/status/628253236391227392 Yes, College GameDay is coming back to Blacksburg Hokie Nation. Press releases have stated that Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit won't be a part of the slightly slimmed down GameDay crew for this game after their stop in Fort Worth on Saturday though Herbstreit will likely be in the booth preparing for the game with Chris Fowler. However, this is a very exciting addition to what will be a wild Labor Day in Blacksburg, especially with classes cancelled ahead of the huge game that is certain to be a soldout crowd with everybody Hokie trying to get a ticket for this game. The big question that remains is where will College GameDay set up at? It seems likely that it will be somewhere near the stadium with the practice fields that hosted the Hokie Village this past fall being a possibility. Thompson Field could also be a possibility, especially with the Hokie Village likely to return before games this fall. There is no doubt that this is by far the most anticipated game in a long time in Blacksburg with fans believing that the Hokies are ready to surprise a lot of people with a great defense and a solid offense. Hopes of being able to beat the Buckeyes again grew this spring after the upset, and even more after Ohio State suspended four players for the game including Joey Bosa. With College GameDay coming to Blacksburg for football for the first time since 2007, the anticipation has grown even more for what is the most-anticipated football game at Lane Stadium since at least 2005.
