2015 College Football: The Tech Lunch Pail Makes 2015 College Football Season Predictions

The 2015 College Football season has arrived and it is time to make some predictions for the season. In a couple days, we will make predictions specifically about the Hokies, but we will start by making our conference and playoff predictions along with our poll of coaches that will get fired in the ACC after this season. To say that these predictions could be off is definitely likely given that we are talking about college football, but here's our best shot at predicting the 2015 College Football Season. To kick off our predictions, here's a look at our votes for which ACC coaches will get fired after the 2015 season. For this poll, the voters were Tim Thomas, Evan Morrison, and Bobby Murray.

• UVA's Mike London- 3 votes
• Miami's Al Golden- 1 vote
• North Carolina's Larry Fedora- 1 vote
• Syracuse's Scot Shafer- 1 vote

Only four coaches received votes for this poll with all three voters believing that Mike London is in his final year at UVA. Virginia has a tough non-conference schedule, and it will be very hard for them to make a bowl game, which is probably the minimum for London to survive. Shafer is entering his third season, but another 3 or 4 win season could cost him his job. Fedora and Golden both have expectations to make progress towards the top of the ACC and probably need at least 7 or 8 wins at their respective programs to keep their jobs.

Power 5 Conference Predictions

Bobby Murray

ACC- Georgia Tech over Clemson Georgia Tech finishes regular season 11-1 and gets revenge on Clemson in the ACCCG. Justin Thomas puts up Heisman numbers throughout the season.

SEC - Alabama over Georgia Alabama continues its dominance over the SEC and easily wins over Georgia, who wins an easy division.

PAC 12 Oregon over UCLA Oregon transfer QB Vernon Adams will excel in Oregon's offense and lead them to a two-loss season but upset UCLA in the championship. No two-loss team will make the playoffs but Oregon will be in a big time bowl game.

BIG 12- TCU Boykin will be a Heisman finalist and lead TCU to an undefeated regular season and clinching a spot in the playoffs.

BIG 10- Ohio State over Nebraska Easiest pick to make this year. Ohio State will go undefeated in the regular season. Their talent level is to high for them not to. They will have 2 Heisman finalists in Ezekiel Elliot and JT Barrett.

ACC: Virginia Tech (10-2) over Clemson (10-2), Surprise team is Pitt who contends for Coastal title B1G: Michigan State (11-1) over Wisconsin (9-3), Surprise team is Minnesota giving Wisconsin a run for their money in the West. Big 12: TCU (12-0) beats Baylor (11-1) late in the season, Surprise team is Oklahoma winning 10 games. Pac-12: UCLA (10-2) over Cal (9-3), Surprise team is Cal coming out on top in a messy North division. SEC: LSU (10-2) over Tennessee (9-3), Surprise team is Vandy winning 6 games to go bowling.

ACC: Clemson over Virginia Tech: The Hokies will be ready to make their return to the ACC Championship this year, but Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback Clemson has had in a long time if not ever. Big 10: Ohio State over Wisconsin: The Buckeyes are ready for another great season, and another trip to the Big 10 Championship against a familiar foe. Wisconsin should win the West, but don't be surprised if Minnesota beats out the Badgers. Big 12: TCU: Trevone Boykin turned the corner last year and became a star at quarterback. Gary Patterson will have his defense ready to go and the Horned Frogs will extract some revenge on Baylor this season. Pac-12: USC over Oregon: Questions remain with Steve Sarkisian, but the Trojans have a talented team that will find a way as a two-loss team to win the Pac-12 South and then dethrone the Ducks. SEC: Auburn over Tennessee: The Volunteers will make their return to prominence with a great season in the SEC East, but Jeremy Johnson is the real deal, and Auburn will be ready to win another SEC Championship.

Playoff Predictions

Bobby Murray

Bama vs TCU. If this matchup happens it will be one of the most anticipated games, TCU has one of the most explosive offenses while Alabama has had an Elite defense. I give the slight advantage to Alabama solely based on Nick Saban and his coaching staff.

OSU vs GT. While this could be the best Georgia Tech team in its history, Ohio State will be too much for Paul Johnsons team to handle. Justin Thomas will play well but Elliot and Barrett will tear up GT's defense and win in a blowout.

Ohio State vs Alabama. Ohio State wins in a shoot out 38-35 and the Buckeyes win the 2nd National Championship in a row.

#1 TCU vs. #4 UCLA #2 Michigan State vs. #3 Baylor When it's all said and done Michigan State will be on top of the college football world after beating TCU in the championship, giving the B1G a second consecutive National Title. But more importantly, the Hokies drought of ACC titles will end after beating Clemson in the ACCCG in Charlotte. College football is finally back! Happy football watching and Go Hokies!

#1 Ohio State over #4 Clemson We will get a rematch of the Orange Bowl from a couple years ago between the Tigers and the Buckeyes. Clemson will give the Buckeyes a tough fight in this game, but Ohio State's talent will show at a neutral site and propel them to a return to the National Championship Game. #3 Auburn over #2 TCU This semifinal has the potential to be an instant classic as both programs have talented quarterbacks and great coaching. Jeremy Johnson will be the big-time quarterback Auburn needs and Will Muschamp will take advantage of a defense that is more talented than most think. #3 Auburn over #1 Ohio State It is extremely hard to repeat, and the Buckeyes will come very close this season. However, Auburn made a great move getting Muschamp that will pay off in Gus Malzahn leading the Tigers to a national championship to end the SEC's two-year national title drought. College Football is back and an exciting season seems ahead with plenty of twists and turns. Could we all be wrong and the Hokies make the playoffs? We all hope so.
