Hokies Football: Landon Dickerson, Devon Hunter Headline Recruits Visiting Blacksburg for Ohio State Game

Just about everybody is calling the Virginia Tech-Ohio State Labor Day Night game the most anticipated game ever at Lane Stadium. The magnitude of having the unanimous preseason #1 team and defending national champion come to your stadium is huge, especially after the Hokies were the only team to beat the Buckeyes last season. This massive weekend has led to tons of interest in elite prospects from all across the country and in 2016 to 2018 classes visiting Blacksburg. The most significant name from the Class of 2016 is offensive tackle Landon Dickerson. Dickerson is seen as one of the top 100 recruits in the country and projects to be a fixture at the offensive tackle spot for some college football team. The Hokies are seen as the favorites for Dickerson at this point with Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida State all in the hunt. Dickerson would be a huge get, and signature piece in a Virginia Tech Class of 2016. A great visit this weekend could help the Hokies close the deal for a must-get recruit in their Class of 2016 plans. 757 school Indian River has a couple top recruits visiting including four-star ILB and Alabama commit Jaquan Yulee, and almost five-star 2017 DB Devon Hunter. Both Hunter and Yulee will be visiting with teammate and Virginia Tech commit LB Tavante Beckett. Beckett could be very valuable in trying to get Yulee to flip his commitment and Hunter to also join him in Blacksburg a year later. Despite being committed to Alabama, Yulee is one of the Hokies' top targets in the Class of 2016 while Hunter already seems like a must-get for the Hokies in 2017. The biggest surprise to visit the Hokies are two 2017 recruits and teammates from California in five-star CB Darnay Holmes and four-star WR Keyshawn Johnson. Holmes and Johnson seem unlikely to end up committing to the Hokies in the long run, but the fact that they are coming is huge for Virginia Tech, and means they have a chance for now. Holmes and Johnson both seem to be very national recruits with plenty of teams from coast to coast in hot pursuit from UCLA to Ohio State. It still seems very unlikely either player will end up in Blacksburg, but the Hokies will look to take advantage of this opportunity. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the talented recruits coming. Here is a full list of what we've been able to put together. This list will be updated throughout the weekend.
