Hokies Cross Country: Thomas Curtin Wins 2015 Men's Indvidual ACC Cross Country Title

The first of the three-part track and field season is nearing its conclusion with the fall cross-country season nearing its end. Today, the ACC hosted its Cross Country Championships, and the Hokies were hopeful for a strong performance from their team. That was the case with one athlete in particular shining in what may be his best career cross-country race. https://twitter.com/VT_Track/status/660090645407801344 Redshirt senior Thomas Curtin of Leesburg, Virginia had the race of his life today, and won the men's individual ACC Cross Country title with an ACC record time. Curtin has been the Hokies' best men's distance runner across the board for the last couple of years whether it has been cross country, indoor track and field, or outdoor track and field. Overall, Virginia Tech men's team finished fourth, and the Hokies' women's team finished eighth overall in the ACC Championship. Both of these are solid results for Virginia Tech, but there is no doubt that Curtin's winning performance makes this a very good day for the Virginia Tech cross-country program. With the victory, Curtin has now won individual ACC titles in all three track and field seasons: cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. Curtin has been one of the most successful runners in Virginia Tech track and field history, and has a chance to be an All-American and possibly a national champion depending on how well he is able to finish his final cross country season. Thomas Curtin has had a very good track and field career in Blacksburg with this impressive victory and ACC record possibly being the best achievement of his time with the Hokies. Now, Curtin knows that there is still a lot left that could be earned, and you can be certain that the senior from Leesburg, Virginia will be ready to give it all he has to see if he can win a national title.
