Hokies Football: Three-Star JUCO OT Demetri Moore Commits to Virginia Tech

After the Virginia Tech Hokies named Justin Fuente the next head coach, Fuente hit the road with his primary focus being on recruiting. This past weekend, Fuente hosted his first group of recruits on official visits since taking the job, and the results were ideal with four-star JUCO QB Jerod Evans committing to Virginia Tech. Two days later, three-star offensive tackle T.J. Jackson of Cumberland, Virginia became the Hokies' sixth commit and third offensive linemen to commit. After another two days, the Hokies have their third commit of the Justin Fuente era. Three-star JUCO OT Demetri Moore of Mississippi Delta Community College committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies after visiting the previous weekend. Moore's decisions makes him the 17th overall commit, fourth offensive line commit, and second JUCO commit for Virginia Tech's Class of 2016. Moore had many offers from across the country other than Virginia Tech including Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Kentucky, Iowa State, and Cincinnati. This may be the most impressive recruiting job by Fuente yet with the immense amount of competition for a player in the hear of SEC country. Moore is ranked as the 58th best junior college recruit and eighth best JUCO offensive tackle by the 247 Sports Composite while ESPN ranks him as the 13th best JUCO offensive tackle. On tape, Demetri Moore shows a good amount of mobility and athleticism that gives him a serious shot to push Jonathan McLaughlin and Yosuah Nijman for a starting spot next fall at offensive tackle. Multiple times on his highlight tape, Moore shows how he can be consistently effectively at pulling from the left side of the offensive side to the right side to create a hole for the running back. Moore still has some developing he can do while he also has the frame to add at least another 10 to 15 pounds beginning upon his arrival this spring. However, Moore looks like an offensive tackle that will be a starter at some point in his two seasons whether that happens this fall or in 2017 after the graduation of McLaughlin. This commitment is a great pickup for Justin Fuente, and is the latest move that should quiet concerns about Fuente's ability to recruit. This may also be Fuente's most impressive recruiting job yet for the Hokies to beat out programs like Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State on their turf to get this talented JUCO recruit. Fuente and the Hokies once again flexed some recruiting muscle in getting a talented JUCO offensive tackle in Demetri Moore that can in immediately and compete for a starting job.
