Hokies Basketball: JUCO PF Seth LeDay Commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has been busy looking to add some pieces to their roster especially in the frontcourt with one target being Liberty transfer Evan Maxwell. However, Maxwell recently committed to Kansas, and the Hokies know that they could use another big man whether it be from the junior college route or the transfer route. Today, the Hokies gained a big man. https://twitter.com/ZachLeDay32/status/733084022390329345 Power forward Seth LeDay of Northwest Mississippi Junior College and brother of Zach LeDay committed to the Hokies. The younger LeDay averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 58.1% from the field this past season. As mentioned in the older LeDay's tweet, Seth LeDay will have to sit out a year as he gets some academic issues resolved, but will basically redshirt next season and practice with the team before making his debut in the 2017-2018 season. At this point, all indications also suggest that Seth LeDay will not be on scholarship at this point which preserves the three open scholarship spots on the Virginia Tech roster currently. Adding Seth LeDay gives the Hokies a little more frontcourt depth without having them burn a scholarship. It's unknown who did a lot of the recruiting of Seth LeDay, but his brother Zach likely made a big impact on getting him to come and play in Blacksburg even though he hasn't been offered a scholarship. For the Hokies, this is a useful addition of a solid JUCO player that at least gives the Hokies some more frontcourt depth in the long run even if Seth LeDay doesn't turn out to be nearly as good as Zach LeDay. If he does turn out to be as good as his older brother, the Hokies have just gotten a huge recruiting steal from a JUCO route that Buzz Williams has found some steals on before.
