Hokies Football: DE Ken Ekanem Is Week 4 ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

The Virginia Tech Hokies once again won easily this weekend as they beat the East Carolina Pirates 54-17 in a game in which the Hokies led at halftime 38-0. Virginia Tech had plenty of great performances on both sides of the football but one player stood out among other players in the ACC last week. https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/780438915534692352 Ken Ekanem was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his strong performance on Saturday against East Carolina. Ekanem was a force throughout the game as the senior defensive end had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 QB hurries, and was one of two players involved with getting the safety. Ekanem has been a nightmare in all four of the Hokies' games and while opposing offensive coordinators have likely tried to find ways to slow him down, Ekanem has not let that stop him. Ekanem had somewhat of a slump last season but so far in 2016, Ekanem has been one of the ACC's best pass rushers with 4.5 sacks, and 5 QB hurries while also having 17 total tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. Ekanem is off to a great and putting together a strong campaign to earn a spot on the All-ACC First Team this year. Congrats to Ken Ekanem on being named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
