Hokies Football: Virginia Tech Returns to the Top 25 at #25

After the Hokies got to 30th in last week's edition of the AP Top 25, many fans believed that a win against North Carolina would be all it would take for Virginia Tech to make its return to the top 25. It turned out that the Hokies didn't even need to do that. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/782643149915107329 https://twitter.com/HokiesFB/status/782644226198740992 Virginia Tech has made its return to the AP top 25 at #25 and will face the 17th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels after the Tar Heels won at Florida State this past weekend to jump in the top 25. This is the first time Virginia Tech has been in the top 25 since winning at Ohio State in September 2014 at #17 before losing to East Carolina the following week and subsequently dropping out of the top 25. Virginia Tech was able to take advantage of being off during a crazy week of college football that saw Michigan State, San Diego State, TCU, Texas, and Georgia all lose and drop out of the top 25. The Hokies will now face off against a fellow ranked team as a ranked team for the first time since the 2012 Sugar Bowl against Michigan. https://twitter.com/AndyBitterVT/status/782644355513344000 The ACC as a whole looks very strong in this week's poll as they are tied for the most top 25 teams with the SEC with six headlined by Clemson at #3 and followed by Louisville at #7, Miami at #10, North Carolina at #17, Florida State at #23, and Virginia Tech at #25. Virginia Tech was also ranked tied for 31st in the Coaches Poll though a win against North Carolina should allow them to take a big jump as shown by Colorado who went from 37th to 23rd in the Coaches Poll. Virginia Tech is back in the top 25, making Saturday's ACC Coastal showdown at North Carolina even bigger between two teams with plenty of momentum.
