Hokies Women's Basketball: Virginia Tech Picked 12th In 2016-2017 Preseason ACC Poll

The Virginia Tech Hokies women's basketball is less than a month away from facing off against UNC Asheville to kick off the Kenny Brooks era in Blacksburg. After a WNIT appearance for the Hokies last season, hopes are for a return to postseason play this season but many fans know the goal is to build a stronger program in the long run that can become a mainstay in the NCAA Tournament. The Hokies return many of their top players from last season but with few teams losing much in the ACC, the Hokies weren't picked very high in the ACC. https://twitter.com/RTD_MikeBarber/status/786196928346271744 The Hokies were picked to finish 12th in the ACC by the media with rival Virginia picked 10th and Notre Dame unsurprisingly being picked to win the ACC. This is a slight improvement for the Hokies over being picked to finish in 14th or 15th as they have been recently which isn't a surprise after their 2015-2016 improvement saw them make the WNIT. For the Hokies, expectations should not be too high given the work that Kenny Brooks has ahead of him but there is no doubt that this team has the talent to make a return to the WNIT while also being able to potentially finish a couple spots higher than that prediction.
