Hokies Football: Virginia Tech Drops Out Of Top 25 After Loss to Syracuse

The Virginia Tech Hokies entered this Saturday's game against Syracuse ranked 17th in the AP Top 25 and 19th in the Coaches Poll after a big win at North Carolina with many expecting them to cruise against the Orange. However, Syracuse had other ideas upsetting the Hokies 31-17 and putting them in position to drop out of the top 25 today. Now, the Hokies' drop out of the top 25 is official. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/787719364137017344 https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/787699074006822912 Virginia Tech crashed out of both top 25s with the Hokies falling from 17th to 30th in the AP top 25 and from 19th to 31st in the Coaches Poll. The drop isn't a surprise given the Hokies' upset loss at Syracuse but the drop isn't as bad as some thought it could be given how bad Syracuse had been before beating the Hokies. With the Hokies 30th and Miami 27th in the AP Poll, the winner of Thursday night's matchup in Blacksburg has a very good chance of jumping back in the top 25 while the loser's chances of winning the ACC Coastal will be just about gone especially if that team is Miami. The ACC as a whole has four AP top 25 teams this week with Clemson dropping to fourth, Louisville staying at seventh, Florida State rising to 13th, and North Carolina jumping back in at #22.
