Hokies Football: C.J. Carroll Will Wear the #25 Jersey Against Georgia Tech

The #25 jersey has become an important recognition each week for one player that has some sort of special teams role for Virginia Tech with cornerback Adonis Alexander getting the honor of wearing that jersey last week. Now, the Hokies are giving the jersey to someone filling in for an injured special teams player at a fairly high level. https://twitter.com/CoachFuente/status/799337916472369157 Redshirt sophomore wide receiver and former walk-on C.J. Carroll will wear the #25 jersey against Notre Dame this Saturday. Carroll has taken over the punt return job with Greg Stroman injured and may also fill in on kick returns with Stroman out after Der'Woun Greene struggled last week against Georgia Tech with a fumble on his first kick return. Carroll averaged over 10 yards on his punt returns last week and was able to make some things happen including make a couple guys miss while also making correct decisions on whether to take a fair catch or try and make something happen. Carroll showed a lot of potential and could even push Stroman in the future for the job of being the Hokies' main return man on both kickoffs and punts. Congrats to C.J. Carroll on receiving the #25 jersey this week. Stay up with The Tech Lunch Pail for the latest on the Hokies via Facebook and Twitter plus sign up for our email updates.
