The Virginia Tech Hokies blew out arch rival Virginia this past Saturday 52-10 to go to 9-3 on the season on a weekend that saw many teams in the 15-25 range of the top 25 get upset. After coming close to jumping back in the top 25 last week, the Hokies made their return to the top 25 as ACC Coastal champions. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/802953443346419713 https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/802934811186921473 The Virginia Tech Hokies jumped from 27th to 19th in the AP Poll while jumping from 26th to 18th in the Coaches Poll after their blowout victory over Virginia. In a weekend full of upsets, the Hokies took care of business in dominating fashion with their 52-10 victory over Virginia and were rewarded in the polls this week. Virginia Tech seems likely to be ranked around 19th on Tuesday when the College Football Playoff rankings come out while entering bowl season in the top 25 seems likely next week no matter the result of the ACC Championship given the teams that are behind them in the polls unless Clemson blows out the Hokies in Orlando while an upset should put the Hokies close to the top 10. Virginia Tech has exceeded all reasonable expectations for the first year of the Justin Fuente era with Fuente likely to be the ACC Coach of the Year for how he has led the Hokies to a top 20 ranking, a 9-3 record, and a ACC Coastal title.
