Entering year 3, many believed that the Hokies could return to the top 25 and more with some having the Hokies in their preseason top 25s. The Hokies have been on the doorstep for weeks but now after upsetting Duke, they're finally back in. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/815974415225810949 The Virginia Tech Hokies are ranked for the first time since November 2010 jumping into the AP top 25 at 21st. The Hokies have definitely earned their spot in the top 25 with the win over Duke being a signature win along with having quality wins over Michigan, Ole Miss, and Nebraska with their only loss coming against Texas A&M in a game in which the Hokies controlled for over 30 of the 40 minutes. Virginia Tech is one of seven ACC teams in the top 25 with the Hokies facing 12th-ranked Florida State in Tallahassee this Saturday after a game in Raleigh against NC State on Wednesday. Duke is still the highest ranked ACC team in the eighth spot while Louisville is ninth, Virginia is 11th, North Carolina is 14th, and Notre Dame is 23rd in addition to the Hokies and Seminoles being ranked with Clemson and Miami being the second and third teams on the outside of the top 25. The ACC is looking as strong as it has ever been, and the Hokies are proving to be a reason for that as a team that definitely is well on its way to making the NCAA Tournament with no worries about being on the bubble and some serious potential to be a top 6 seed. When Buzz Williams took over the Hokies, who would've imagined that the Hokies would have gone from the cellar of the ACC to being ranked in the top 25 in less than 3 seasons.
