[Credit: Harley Taylor][/caption]The Virginia Tech Hokies' women's lacrosse program hasn't had a lot of success over the year and especially over the past few seasons with the Hokies not having a single ACC win from 2013 to 2016, leading to a coaching change after the 2016 season that brought in John Sung from Winthrop. That coaching change has already paid off in a big way with the Hokies off to a 3-1 start including their first ACC win since April of 2012 over Boston College at the Indoor Practice Facility this past weekend and their only loss coming against a now-ranked James Madison. Now, Virginia Tech has done something that they have only done one other time in program history. https://twitter.com/VT_Lax/status/833722646143594496 Virginia Tech women's lacrosse is ranked for the second time in program history, jumping in the top 20 at 20th in the nation after beating Boston College this past weekend. The Hokies did not receive a single vote last week but their impressive 18-12 win against Boston College on Saturday has launched them into the top 20 with a great chance to stay in there till ACC play really gets going. John Sung has already done a tremendous job in year 1 with Virginia Tech having gotten their first ACC win since 2012 in his first ACC game while its clear that the coaching is significantly improved this season. Sung has the Hokies playing the best lacrosse they played possibly ever in year 1 in what has been an impressively quick turnaround that makes Sung already the early favorite to be the ACC Coach of the Year.
