[Credit: Harley Taylor][/caption]The Virginia Tech Hokies and Clemson Tigers both entered tonight in vastly different spots on the bubble with the Hokies being on the fringe in the right way with VT being safely in the NCAA Tournament right now while Clemson entered tonight on the fringe of the bubble needing to get a win to help their shrinking hopes of making the NCAA Tournament due mainly to their 4-10 ACC record entering tonight's game. Just like the first time these two teams met, it came right down to the wire but just like that game, the Hokies prevailed. Seth Allen once again made the game-winning shot, hitting a three with 3.8 seconds left to give the Hokies a 71-70 victory over Clemson in what was a thriller of a finish after Marcquise Reed put together a 5-0 run of his own to give the Tigers a 70-68 lead. The win puts the Hokies at 19-8 overall and 8-7 in the ACC while the loss puts Clemson at 14-13 overall and 4-11 in the ACC with Allen's shot likely being the dagger to Clemson's NCAA Tournament hopes. https://twitter.com/TitanicHoops/status/834231976043352064 Virginia Tech once again shot the ball well from beyond the arc going 12-for-22 from three-point range though Clemson also shot well from deep going 9-for-17 from beyond the arc. Virginia Tech was once again outrebounded 36-26 including 15-6 on the offensive glass, leading to Clemson taking 10 more shots but the Hokies shot 49.1% from the field compared to 41.3% for Clemson. Seth Allen was quiet for most of the night with only eight points, but Allen once again stepped up when the Hokies needed him the most hitting the game-winning three with 3.8 seconds remaining to give the Hokies another quality home victory and give them even more breathing room. Allen continues to be one of the most clutch players in America with his shot tonight being the latest example of that. Zach LeDay was the star of this game with a great performance in the post as he had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks while giving the Hokies a little jolt on the glass minutes into the second half after Clemson dominated the offensive glass badly for the first few minutes. LeDay continues to step up and have some big performances in big games as you'd expect from the senior forward who is definitely playing some of the best basketball he's played all season in the past few games especially since Chris Clarke went down for the season. Ahmed Hill and Justin Bibbs continued their improved play as both had 12 points with Bibbs going 4-for-7 from deep and Hill going 2-for-2 from deep while Bibbs also had 5 assists and Hill shot an efficient 5-for-6 from the field. Hill and Bibbs have both broken out of their shooting slumps from beyond the arc along with Ty Outlaw, who scored 8 points and shot 2-for-5 from beyond the arc, giving the Hokies an elite outside shooting threat that is allowing the Hokies to play some of their best offensive basketball of the season even without Chris Clarke. Justin Robinson had a very good game with 10 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds though his 3 turnovers were a little disappointing, but Robinson did make a lot of good passes especially early with 3 assists before the first media timeout. Khadim Sy had a disappointing with only 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 block as the freshman big man had some struggles and barely touched the court.
