Eric Kumah, Divine Deablo Among Those Out For Virginia Tech's Spring Game

The 2017 Spring Game is here as the Virginia Tech Hokies wrap up spring practice for the second year of the Justin Fuente era. With today being a glorified scrimmage, Virginia Tech's coaching staff takes a conservative approach with who plays and who's held out, and we now know who won't be playing for the Hokies today. https://twitter.com/AndyBitterVT/status/855814819676651520 WRs Eric Kumah and Henri Murphy and DB Divine Deablo headline the group of players who are out for today's Spring Game with injuries that have been picked up this spring. Kumah and Murphy had been limited recently while Deablo must have recently picked up an injury so seeing all three out isn't a surprise. Kumah has had arguably the best spring of any Hokie and it's disappointing not to see him out there especially with Kumah seeing to be the favorite to be one of the 2 starting outside wide receivers with Cam Phillips. However, keeping Kumah healthy is important especially with how he will be receiving significant playing time this fall. Henri Murphy is likely to play some this fall and it would have been good to see him out there, and see if he'll be working more in the slot or on the outside. Meanwhile, today's game would have been another good chance to get new free safety Divine Deablo more reps in what is more of a game setting as he continues to adjust to a new position. What is good news for the Hokies is that both Phil Patterson and Sam Denmark are able to today after both had been limited lately. After redshirting last season, both Patterson and Denmark should receive playing time at wide receiver while Patterson is also a contender to beat out Eric Kumah for a starting outside wide receiver spot.
