Zach Epperly Leaves Virginia Tech Wrestling

Zach Epperly 1
Virginia Tech wrestling had another great season sweeping the ACC Dual-Meet and Tournament titles while also finishing in the top 6 overall in the NCAA Championships. However, the Hokies were set to have a few holes to fill next season with All-Americans Ty Walz, Joey Dance, and Sal Mastriani all graduating. Now, the Hokies will have another hole to fill in their starting lineup. https://twitter.com/VT_Wrestling/status/856635867271704577 https://twitter.com/ROBIEwrestling/status/856692765748604929 Zach Epperly announced that he will be leaving the Virginia Tech wrestling team upon graduation next month to take a job in the private sector. Epperly only had one year of eligibility left and while he did have a great career at Virginia Tech, he likely knew that a career in wrestling was unlikely while also seeming ready to move on from the wrestling mat. Epperly was a two-time All-American who had his best finish at 174 in 2016 finishing third overall at the NCAA Championships. Epperly also had a great ACC career as he won the 2017 ACC title at 174 this past season with Epperly and the Hokies winning the ACC Championship all three years he was in the starting lineup along with winning the ACC Dual Meet title this past year. Epperly has been a wrestling star for nearly a decade in the New River Valley after winning four state championships in high school at nearby Christiansburg High School. Congrats to Zach Epperly on a great wrestling and good luck to him in his future endeavors.
