Bucky Hodges Selected In the Sixth Round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings

Bucky Hodges 1
Just about everyone expected that Bucky Hodges would go in either the third or fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but the 757 receiver took a surprising slide that had him still on the board well into the sixth round. However, the wait for Bucky Hodges is now over. https://twitter.com/HokiesFB/status/858419780541440000 Bucky Hodges was selected 201st overall in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings with the expectation being that Hodges will play tight end at the next level after playing wide receiver this past season and tight end for the prior two seasons. Hodges was consistent throughout his career in Blacksburg with at least 40 receptions, 500 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns in all three of his seasons with the Hokies. Hodges had his best season this past year when moving outside to wide receiver with 48 catches for 691 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns while also starting 37 out of 40 career games including starting all 27 games the past two seasons. Hodges's slide is a huge surprise especially after he also had a great NFL Combine performance, but concerns about his blocking ability may have hurt along with Matt Miller of Bleacher Report suggesting that there were some off-the-field concerns. https://twitter.com/nfldraftscout/status/858418186244546561 Despite this, there is no doubt in my mind that Bucky Hodges is a steal at this point for Minnesota as someone who can take a Dallas Clark type of role for Minnesota working out of the slot with Minnesota having a more traditional TE already in Kyle Rudolph. Congrats to Bucky Hodges on being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
