Going into the 2017 NFL Draft, no one would have expected that Bucky Hodges and Isaiah Ford would still be on the board after five rounds, or that Hodges or Ford wouldn’t be the first Hokie selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
However, this has been a draft of surprises.

Safety Chuck Clark has been selected 186th overall in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Clark is the first Virginia Tech player to be selected in this year’s draft and also means that at least one Virginia Tech DB has been selected in every NFL Draft since 1999 other than in 2013.
Chuck Clark was the Hokies’ starting free safety the past two years making 40 starts over his Virginia Tech career including 38 starts in the past three years as a starting CB in 2014 as well.
Congrats to Chuck Clark on being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
