Three-Star ATH/QB DeJuan Ellis Recommits to Virginia Tech

De Juan Ellis 1
Two days ago, three-star ATH/QB DeJuan Ellis surprised a whole lot of people when he decommitted from Virginia Tech and announced that he was transitioning from being a QB to being an athlete. Ellis also said that Virginia Tech was still one of his top schools in his decommitment statement on Twitter. However, it didn't take long at all for Virginia Tech to reestablish themselves at the top. https://twitter.com/DeJuanEllisll/status/860302058825682944 Three-star ATH/QB DeJuan Ellis announced on Twitter that he has recommitted to Virginia Tech two days after he had decommitted from the Hokies. The athlete from the McDonough School in Owings Mills, Maryland had previously been seen as one of the Hokies' strongest commits and while he did decommit, it's hard to see him decommitting again especially with him recommitting only two days later. Ellis is fairly well-regarded athlete with ESPN rating him as a four-star recruit while 247 Sports, Rivals, and the 247 Sports Composite have him as a three-star recruit. Ellis is ranked as a top 30 athlete and top 12 recruit in Maryland by ESPN, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite with a short but solid list of 8 offers that also includes Illinois, Maryland, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Temple, and Toledo. The fact that the Hokies were able to get Ellis to decommit within about 48 hours is quite impressive and a lot of the credit has to go to Justin Fuente and Brad Cornelsen who has been his primary recruiter. It is unclear now what position Ellis will play with quarterback likely still being a possibility along with him having the size and athleticism to fit in the slot at WR or cross over to defense and play cornerback.
