Virginia Tech Women's Lacrosse Coach John Sung Receives Contract Extension

VT Womens Lacrosse
When the Virginia Tech Hokies hired John Sung to be their head women's lacrosse coach, they were hoping that he could rebuild Virginia Tech's women's lacrosse program completely just like he did at Winthrop where he built a strong mid-major program from nothing as the program's first head coach. After one year, it's already clear that Whit Babcock made the perfect hire in Sung and now, Babcock is ready to make sure that Sung will be in Blacksburg long term. https://twitter.com/VT_Lax/status/870356767166918656 Virginia Tech announced today that women's lacrosse head coach John Sung has agreed to a contract extension through 2022. Details on the salary and other figures in the contract are unknown but it is a great move by Babcock and the Hokies for a coach who led Virginia Tech to its highest ranking in program history and almost led them to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the history of the program. Sung led the Hokies to an 11-8 overall record including 2 conference wins over Boston College and at Duke that were the highest ACC win total for the program since 2004. Sung already has this program headed in the right direction and after having a few close losses in conference play, this appears to be a team that could make the NCAA Tournament as soon as next season with the Hokies returning six of their top 7 goal scorers and their starting goaltender from this past season. Congrats to John Sung on receiving a well-deserved extension.
