Virginia Tech Leads For Three-Star ATH/DB Nadir Thompson

The Virginia Tech Hokies have been doing well on the recruiting trail including with defensive backs where they've added commitments from three-star CBs DJ Crossen and Braxton Clark, joining three-star safeties Chamarri Conner and Nasir Peoples. However, the Hokies are still looking to add one or two more defensive backs and are in great shape for one of their top DB targets. Three-star ATH/DB and former NC State commit Nadir Thompson told us that Virginia Tech leads in his recruitment with the Hokies, UVA, and ECU "pushing the hardest" for his commitment. Thompson has been a high priority for the Hokies even while he was committed to NC State, and have the edge currently over UVA and ECU plus UNC and Duke who made his top 5 but appear to not be serious threats. When asked for why the Hokies were Thompson's leaders, it became clear that he's ready to compete against the best in college football wherever he goes.
"They are my leader because of the want they have to win! Also, they have great players on their team and if you play around great players and compete with them everyday, you have no choice but to get better."
Thompson definitely wants to compete at the highest level and play for an elite program with the Hokies undoubtedly being the top football program that made his top 5 and a significantly more successful program last year and over the past decade than UVA or ECU along with playing in a power 5 conference unlike ECU. Thompson told us that he has the best relationships with the Virginia Tech and ECU coaching staffs, another good sign for the Hokies given his profound desire to compete against the best and to be at an elite program. Thompson is planning to visit Virginia Tech this upcoming weekend while also looking into taking visits to North Carolina and Wake Forest sometime soon. Thompson did visit Charlotte for a camp this past weekend but that was likely to get another chance to compete against other talented recruits and get better. With Thompson set to visit Blacksburg this weekend, the Hokies are likely to make a strong push to try to get his commitment especially with VT being the leader and the two other schools he's considering visiting, UNC and Wake Forest, not being among those "pushing the hardest" in his recruitment. There's no doubt that whoever gets Thompson will be getting a talented athlete who is fairly well-regarded with ESPN having him as a four-star recruit and Rivals, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite rating him as a three-star recruit. Thompson is also rated in North Carolina and among athletes nationally with ESPN and 247 Sports ranking him as a top 40 athlete while Rivals, ESPN, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite all have him as one of the top 25 recruits in North Carolina. Nadir Thompson doesn't have a timetable for making a commitment, but Virginia Tech has positioned themselves well for the former NC State commit with a chance that VT could be able to seal the deal this weekend. If the Hokies can get Thompson, it will only add more momentum to the #NC2VT movement that has taken off over the past few weeks thanks to commitments from four-star WR Tre Turner and three-star CB DJ Crossen. Wherever Nadir Thompson goes, he will definitely give that program a player who is unafraid of working hard and competing with the best.
