The Virginia Tech Hokies may only have a few scholarships left for the Class of 2018, but there is no limit in the number of preferred walk-ons the Hokies can have. Earlier this week, the Hokies gained their first preferred walk-on commit from the Class of 2018. https://twitter.com/adamm_lytle/status/892108192976703488 Linebacker Adam Lytle out of York High School in Yorktown, Virginia announced Monday that he has committed to Virginia Tech as a preferred walk-on. Lytle has intriguing size at 6'3'' and around 200 pounds currently with it seeming likely that Lytle could add another 20-30 pounds and grow into being a collegiate linebacker. Virginia Tech has made the 757 a priority under Justin Fuente and not just with on-scholarship recruits, but also going after top walk-ons including Tre Hubbard who transferred away from the Hokies this past spring. Making the 757 a priority takes more than heavily pursuing the top guys from there but also doing coaching clinics and pursuing talented players who could fit well as walk-ons, all of which the Hokies have done under Fuente. The Hokies also have shown that walk-ons can come and earn significant roles as Sam Rogers did and as Joey Slye, CJ Carroll, and Steven Peoples all currently have. Virginia Tech also has had a few walk-on linebackers develop into productive players including Jack Tyler most notably. One thing of note is that Adam Lytle's twin brother Cole Lytle also recently committed to Virginia as a preferred walk-on. Now, the Lytle family will be spending the days after Thanksgiving in Blacksburg or Charlottesville for the next few years. Congrats to Adam Lytle on his commitment to Virginia Tech as a preferred walk-on.
