Brandon Facyson "Should Be Ready" For Virginia Tech's Opener

Earlier in fall camp, CBs coach Brian Mitchell said that Brandon Facyson was progressing well in his injury recovery but that his status for Virginia Tech's opener against West Virginia was unknown. Today, Bud Foster addressed the status of Facyson and had some encouraging news. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/899288523341262849 https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/899288403908464640 According to Bud Foster, Brandon Facyson is continuing to improve and is on course to play against West Virginia. Facyson has also been doing quite well in practice and based on Foster's comments, he should be up-to-speed for the season opener. If there's a game that the Hokies can least afford to be without one of their top 3 cornerbacks, it's probably this one given Dana Holgersen's wide-open passing offense that uses plenty of four and five receiver formations. Having a veteran like Facyson who has been through plenty of big games in his career and lots of positive experience. With Facyson being limited so far this fall, it wouldn't be surprising to see him not start in the opener especially with Greg Stroman and Adonis Alexander being at 100% throughout fall camp, allowing them to participate in all drills and scrimmages. However, you can expect to see Facyson play a lot if he is able to play against West Virginia especially since his wrist injury has allowed him to participate in some non-contact drills while his awareness and ball skills are two of his best traits and skills that shouldn't be affected at all by his injury. Facyson also should be one of the numerous leaders on the defense and though he could still do that on the sidelines, Bud Foster will definitely be glad to have him on the field. While it isn't a guarantee yet that Brandon Facyson will play against West Virginia, everything points towards the redshirt senior being ready to go on September 3rd.
