Greg Stroman Will Wear #25 Jersey Against East Carolina

Greg Stroman, a senior cornerback, has been given the honor to wear the #25 jersey this week for the Hokies as they play East Carolina at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

When Justin Fuente became head coach before last season, he started a tribute to honor former Virginia Tech coach and player Frank Beamer by choosing one special teams player to wear the number 25 in the upcoming week’s game.

Greg Stroman was chosen last year against East Carolina to wear the number 25, and he returned a punt for a touchdown in the game, his only punt return of the season. Stroman returned a punt last weekend against Delaware for a touchdown to open the scoring in the game, and he has been given the honor of wearing the 25 jersey this weekend.

Stroman has been punt returning since his freshman year, the 2014 season, and has returned three kicks for touchdowns in his career including one against Tulsa in the Independence Bowl in 2015 for 67 yards to put the Hokies up 45-21 in the second quarter.

Stroman’s return last year against East Carolina was 87 yards for a score, and his return last Saturday was 61 yards. He has three punt returns this season for 63 yards total. Stroman is a starter at cornerback as well as the punt returner for the Hokies this season, and has three tackles in two games this year, as most quarterbacks haven’t thrown his way.

Congrats to Greg Stroman on receiving the #25 jersey this week.
