Virginia Tech Makes Great First Impression on Elite 2020 WR Julian Fleming

Fan 2
Every recruiting cycle, there are always some really cool stories of schools offering recruits in ways that only seem to happen in dreams. For 2020 WR Julian Fleming, he had one of those moments before the Virginia Tech-Clemson game. https://twitter.com/julian_040/status/914327047635337216 Yes, Julian Fleming was offered at the 50-yard line before the Virginia Tech-Clemson game by Justin Fuente, an offer that Fleming said was "a shock." For Fleming, there was a strong reason for it being a surprise. "It was my first time meeting the coach and in the first conversation, he offered," Fleming said. "It meant a lot, especially on the field before such a big game." For Justin Fuente, what a way to make a first impression on a recruit by offering him at midfield before the biggest game in Lane Stadium in at least a decade. When we asked Julian Fleming about his visit, he said it was a "great experience" in a "great atmosphere" with "awesome coaches." When asked what specifically stood out about his visit, this is what Fleming had to say. "The atmosphere at the game was crazy especially when the team came out," Fleming said. "It just seems like everyone goes above and beyond on game day." Fleming said that the offer was "big" for his recruitment, and mentioned how it should bring him increased attention from other coaches. Fleming already has a solid offer list that includes in-state Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Rutgers, and UCONN in addition to the Hokies. Julian Fleming is going to be one of the elite WR recruits in the 2020 class as the 6'3'' receiver is ranked as the fifth best 2020 recruit by 247 Sports. Fleming's offer list is bound to grow even more in the coming months as he continues to establish himself as one of the elite playmakers in the 2020 class. Since it's so early in his recruitment, it's impossible to predict where Fleming may end up, but it's hard not to think that Penn State will be one of the favorites as the in-state powerhouse. The Nittany Lions have done well recruiting in their own state and gaining commitments from top in-state recruits. However, the Hokies can't be ruled out, especially after the way in which they offered Fleming. Virginia Tech has also had some success in the Keystone State including multiple commits in the 2018 cycle headlined by four-star WR Darryle Simmons who chose the Hokies over Penn State. Michigan also can't be ruled out while Fleming plans to take a visit to the upcoming Notre Dame-USC game. The Fighting Irish haven't offered Fleming yet, but it wouldn't be surprising if that changes soon. Fleming still isn't close to making a decision, but first impressions can leave a lasting mark, and Justin Fuente left a great one.
