Five-star PF Armando Bacot is one of the most sought after players in the Class of 2019. Bacot has a prestigious list of over 35 offers from all over the country that include plenty of blue bloods. Bacot is also the top recruit in the state of Virginia with Virginia Tech, UVA, and VCU all pushing hard for the Richmond star.
Today, Bacot cut his list down to 10.

Virginia Tech was one of ten schools to make the cut for five-star big man Armando Bacot. Fellow in-state schools VCU and Virginia plus blue bloods North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, UCLA, and Villanova made the cut as well. Georgetown (which is almost in-state) and Oklahoma State were the other two schools to make the top 10.
Bacot is an elite recruit that is ranked in the top 25 by ESPN, Rivals, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite. Bacot is also ranked as the top in-state recruit in the 2019 class by ESPN, 247 Sports, and the 247 Sports Composite. There is no doubt that Bacot is Virginia Tech’s number 1 target and that will continue to be the case throughout his recruitment.
According to the Crystal Ball from 247 Sports, Duke is the favorite with all five predictions being in the Blue Devils’ favor. Virginia Tech faces a tough challenge going against blue bloods like Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas who all have Bacot as a top priority.
However, the Hokies won’t go down without a fight and are ready to make a significant push to get him. According to 247 Sports, Bacot took a visit to Virginia Tech in September and is likely to take another visit during basketball season given the proximity and the magnitude of games.
Bacot has the potential to be a game-changing recruit for Virginia Tech. While Nickeil Alexander-Walker was a huge signing for the Hokies, Bacot would be arguably the biggest pickup in program history. As a five-star recruit from Richmond, Bacot would be a game changer as an in-state playmaker staying in-state with the Hokies over going to one of the blue bloods.
Right now, Virginia Tech has an uphill battle for Armando Bacot. However, the Hokies shouldn’t be ruled out as many may want to. Duke and North Carolina are poised to be serious challenges, but Buzz Williams has shown that he can bring elite talent to Blacksburg.
