Fans of Virginia Tech basketball will get to see the team in action earlier than expected, and for a good cause.

The University of South Carolina and Virginia Tech men’s basketball teams will play the “Hoops 4 Hurricane Relief” exhibition game on Nov. 5, the head coaches announced Monday. The game will be held in the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, S.C. and will tip off at 2 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will go towards relief efforts for the hurricanes that swept through Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico this fall. Both coaches have ties to the areas that were affected by the hurricanes. USC head coach Frank Martin is from South Florida and Hokies coach Buzz Williams is a native of Greenville, Texas.
Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased through the South Carolina ticket office. Both coaches are also encouraging fans to make online donations to the relief fund here.
The game will be the Hokies’ first against another team before their regular season begins Nov. 10th against Detroit Mercy at Cassell Coliseum.
