Keshon Artis has been one of Virginia Tech’s top recruiting targets for over a year now. The talented Oscar Smith linebacker is one of the best recruits in the 757 this year with plenty of interest and offers from all over the country. Recently, Artis cut his list down to a final 3 of Virginia Tech, NC State, and UCF.
After taking official visits to VT and UCF, Artis has decided to make his commitment.

Four-star LB Keshon Artis committed to Virginia Tech over NC State and UCF today. Artis is the fourth four-star commit in Virginia Tech’s 2018 class and the second 2018 commit from the 757.
Keshon Artis is ranked as a four-star recruit by ESPN and 247 Sports while Rivals is an outlier with him as a low three-star. Artis is ranked as the fifth best recruit in Virginia by 247 Sports, eighth best by ESPN, 13th best by the 247 Sports Composite (due largely to his Rivals’ ranking), and 22nd best by Rivals. The 757 LB is also ranked as the 11th best ILB by 247 Sports and 12th best by ESPN.
Artis has a quality offer list that includes the following schools:
- ACC: Virginia Tech, NC State, Duke, Virginia, Syracuse
- Big 10: Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers
- Big 12: West Virginia
- SEC: Tennessee, Missouri
- AAC: UCF, Temple, Navy
- Conference USA: Old Dominion, Marshall
- MAC: Buffalo
Artis is a fantastic pickup for the Hokies as Virginia Tech has added another one of their top linebacker targets. This has the potential to be one of the Hokies’ best linebacker recruiting classes of all-time especially if they can get Dax Hollifield as well.
The Hokies have had plenty of success recruiting 757 powerhouse Oscar Smith over the years, and Artis is now the latest to come out of that pipeline. Zohn Burden is one of the best recruiters of the 757 in the country with Artis being his latest big pickup to give VT some momentum ahead of 2019 and 2020 classes where the Tidewater area is full of talent.
