Andrew Motuapuaka Will Wear #25 Jersey Against Pittsburgh

Motuapuaka Settle 1
Justin Fuente announced today that Andrew Motuapuaka will wear #25 to honor legendary coach Frank Beamer this weekend as the Hokies take on Pittsburgh on Senior Day. https://twitter.com/CoachFuente/status/931246266406854659 Motuapuaka, the 6’0” redshirt-senior at middle linebacker, is one of the four senior captains on the team, along with cornerback Greg Stroman, center Eric Gallo, and fellow linebacker Anthony Shegog. Motuapuaka redshirted during the 2013-season. He then played for two years under coach Frank Beamer before Beamer retired. Motuapuaka is in his second season under Coach Fuente and is one of the leaders on the team. He is second on the team in total tackles this season with 75, 11 tackles behind fellow linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. Motuapuaka also has 2.5 sacks this season for eight yards of loss, and he has accumulated 10.5 sacks in his career for 66 total yards of loss. He has five interceptions in his four-year career and has forced five fumbles while recovering six. Along with Tremaine Edmunds and Anthony Shegog, Motuapuaka has been a key asset this season for the Hokies on defense as the Hokies have done well to stop the run game, thanks to the linebacker core. Even though he only has one interception, he has been an influence in the pass game. Motuapuaka played at Salem High School in Virginia Beach and is majoring in multimedia journalism here at Virginia Tech. He has had a great career here as a Hokie and fans will be sad to see him go, but hopefully he can enjoy Saturday in honoring Coach Beamer and get a victory.
