Four-Star JUCO CB Jeremy Webb Breaks Down His Virginia Tech Official Visit

Bud Foster 1 1
Numbers have gotten extremely tight for Virginia Tech's Class of 2018. This has led to the Hokies only pursuing only a few top targets including four-star JUCO CB Jeremy Webb. Webb has grown as a priority for Virginia Tech in the past few months especially as the Hokies will lose both of their starting cornerbacks after this season. Webb knows that Virginia Tech sees him as a potential starter next season with VT set to have an open competition for at least one starting CB spot. Last weekend, Jeremy Webb took his first official visit of the fall to Virginia Tech. This past week, Webb talked about that visit and his recruitment as a whole. Webb told us that his visit was "amazing", stating that VT "showed a lot of love" to him and his family, and that he "enjoyed every bit of it." When we asked what stood out to Webb, he told us that it was "the coaches, and how much they told and showed that they wanted me." Webb was also impressed with how VT was able to make him feel like a "main priority" despite having to coach a football game and go through Senior Day festivities. Webb told us that Virginia Tech is a "strong contender" with VT, UCF, and West Virginia being among his top group currently. However, VT has been seen as the frontrunner by many for a while in part because of Webb's relationship with VT CBs coach Brian Mitchell. Jeremy Webb told us that Mitchell is the coach whom he has the best relationship with among college coaches. Webb said that Mitchell stands out because of "how much he checks on me, my family, it's more than just football." That type of caring and relationship-building is not only cool to see but also a great sign that Webb and Mitchell are building a very strong relationship. Webb is planning to make a decision in early to mid-December with Webb taking an official visit to UCF this weekend and West Virginia December 8th. While it isn't ideal for the Hokies to not have the last visit, they have built the groundwork to win this recruiting battle for a priority cornerback. Webb has emerged as one of the best JUCO recruits in the country with the 247 Sports Composite ranking him 7th among JUCO recruits while Rivals rates him as a four-star cornerback. Webb has a solid offer list that includes VT, WVU, UCF, Iowa State, Ole Miss, and Temple. Right now, Virginia Tech is the favorite for Jeremy Webb, but they still have a lot of work to do with UCF and West Virginia recruiting Webb just as hard as the Hokies. Virginia Tech's DBU legacy and chance for early playing time should be beneficial down the stretch while Brian Mitchell's relationship with Webb is an x-factor in this recruiting battle that makes VT the favorite and is why we have a prediction in VT's favor. However, West Virginia and UCF can't be ruled out at this point with the Mountaineers having a solid season and history of success with JUCO DBs. UCF is having their best season since Blake Bortles was a Golden Knight, but UCF may also lose head coach Scott Frost, something which likely would hurt the Golden Knights. Virginia Tech has positioned themselves well for Jeremy Webb after a great official visit, but they still has some work to do to make sure that one of their priority targets signs with VT.
