The Virginia Tech Hokies have sent out a few offers over the past week starting with a Junior Day offer to 2019 OG Jakai Moore. Today, the Hokies sent out a new offer to one of the best quarterbacks in the 2019 class, Sam Howell. https://twitter.com/Sam_Howell2/status/954458421318836224 Virginia Tech offered 2019 four-star QB Sam Howell today. Howell is ranked as the 225th best recruit by the 247 Sports Composite, 167th best recruit by Rivals, and 289th recruit by ESPN. Among pro-style QBs, Howell is ranked fifth best by Rivals and the 247 Sports Composite while ESPN ranks him as the seventh best pocket passer. Among North Carolina, Howell is ranked seventh best by the 247 Sports Composite and ESPN, and fifth best by Rivals. Howell has a very impressive offer list full of talented teams:
  • ACC: Virginia Tech, Clemson, NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Pittsburgh
  • SEC: Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss
  • Big 10: Ohio State, Minnesota, Maryland
  • Big 12: West Virginia
  • AAC: East Carolina
  • Conference USA: Charlotte, FIU
  • Sun Belt: Appalachian State
The Hokies have only offered a few quarterbacks and outside of Jalon Jones, the Hokies weren't heavily pursuing anyone else before this offer. For the Hokies to become a major contender, they'll likely need to get Howell on campus sometime this spring, especially with the timetable for QBs committing normally being shorter than any other position. The Hokies are now in the hunt for one of the top QBs on the East Coast, but his interest is unknown.
