Virginia Tech is making the Washington D.C. area one of their top priorities in the 2020 class, and that includes four-star CB Luke Hill out of St John’s College HS. Hill is a part of a loaded program that produced soon-to-be VT DT Cam Goode and has multiple highly-rated 2020 recruits including five-star LB Mekhail Sherman and four-star WR Rakim Jarrett.
Currently, Hill doesn’t have any schools standing out, but he is noticing a few schools recruiting him harder than others.
Luke Hill told us that Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and Rutgers are recruiting him the hardest. Hill has a visit for Clemson scheduled next month while he is also looking to take a visit to nearby Maryland sometime soon. Hill’s visit schedule was limited this spring, but he was able to visit Blacksburg for a VT Junior Day back in January. He also told us that he feels Michigan and North Carolina are schools that he feels may offer him soon.
The Hokies are recruiting Hill to specifically play cornerback though he said that he would be okay with moving around the defensive backfield if VT (or likely any other school) wanted him to do so at the collegiate level. Hill also feels that he would fit “very well with the versatility of the defense” at Virginia Tech.
While Virginia Tech’s coaching staff is making Hill a priority, VT’s best recruiter may be the talented, outgoing Cam Goode who is a favorite among his old St John’s teammates.
“Cam (Goode) has always encouraged me to be the best I can be at school, and on and off the field. Cam has a huge impact on my opinion of VT in my recruitment because at the end of the day, I’ll take his word before most and he’s always praised VT,” Hill said.
The Hokies are hoping to build a recruiting pipeline at St John’s College HS and having a guy like Goode in VT’s corner is quite beneficial for the Hokies’ hopes of doing so.
Luke Hill’s recruitment has a long ways to go, but Virginia Tech has put themselves in a great position for one of their top 2020 targets.
