2021 QB Preston Stone Talks About His Virginia Tech Offer

Josh Jackson 5
Preston Stone has already emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the 2021 class with almost 30 offers including 18 offers from power 5 schools. Among those that have offered Stone is Virginia Tech with Brad Cornelsen making a stop in Dallas to do so. https://twitter.com/_prestonstone/status/994365046594654209 "I was very honored and grateful. A lot of great quarterbacks have come through Virginia Tech and it was a blessing to be offered by Coach (Brad) Cornelsen," Stone said about his VT offer. "It was unexpected because I was unaware that any VT coaches were going to be at my school. I had the chance to sit down and have a great talk with Coach Cornelsen and then he offered me." The Hokies have shown that they aren't afraid to cast a wide net with this being the latest example of that after the Hokies offered three-star DL Jason Gold out of Texas earlier this year. So how does this offer impact his recruitment and VT's standing in it? "Virginia Tech is always in the running for the ACC title and I was very excited to receive an offer from them. As for my recruitment, I’m just trying to take things slow and maintain a strong work ethic," Stone said. Stone told us that he currently doesn't have any visits scheduled for this summer, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him make some trips to visit the numerous schools that have offered him. For the Hokies to become a factor in his recruitment, they'll almost certainly need to get him on campus for a visit. Virginia Tech hasn't been afraid to cast a wide net on the recruiting trail during the Justin Fuente with Stone's offer being the latest example of that. Brad Cornelsen has already made a strong first impression on Stone, but the Hokies will need to get him to Blacksburg to build on that.
