2020 Four-Star DE Coziah Izzard Has a "Really Good" Virginia Tech Visit

Coziah Izzard 1
Less than two weeks ago, 2020 four-star DE Coziah Izzard made a weekend trip down to Blacksburg to take an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech. https://twitter.com/Co_Izzard/status/995805898944733185 "It was really good, I enjoyed myself being at Virginia Tech and hanging with Coach (Holmon) Wiggins," Izzard said about his Virginia Tech visit. Izzard added that he really liked "the stadium and facilities" that Virginia Tech has to offer. So how did this visit impact VT's standing in Izzard's recruitment? "I’ve always liked VT and they will be included in a top 5 during my recruitment," Izzard said. In addition, Izzard added that the Hokies are among four schools standing out to him along with Georgia, Maryland, and North Carolina. So why are the Hokies among those standing out in his recruitment? "I really liked everything about Virginia Tech, all of what they’ve done and produced in the past years. I feel like I will build a good relationship with Coach Wiggins and Coach (Charley) Wiles." One thing that stands out throughout Izzard's comments about Virginia Tech is his relationship with WRs coach Holmon Wiggins. "He's cool and made me feel like Virginia Tech was home," Izzard said about his relationship with Holmon Wiggins. Looking ahead in his recruitment, Izzard told us that Clemson was the school showing him the most interest among those who hadn't offered while Notre Dame extended him an offer today. However, Izzard also made some big news when he decided to transfer to Maryland powerhouse DeMatha Catholic to give himself some more opportunities. "I wanted to expand my options, opportunities and the competition," Izzard said about transferring to DeMatha. The Hokies have had some success recruiting at DeMatha in the past including signing a three-star WR by the name of Cam Phillips back in the 2014 class which worked out pretty well. The Hokies have positioned themselves well in Coziah Izzard's recruitment early on especially after a "really good" unofficial visit. However, the Hokies still have a lot of work ahead as Izzard's offer list continues to grow with Notre Dame being the most recent school to offer.
