Earlier this offseason, Virginia Tech Director of Player Personnel Chuck Cantor announced that he would be leaving to take a position at Florida. Yesterday, news broke that the Hokies have found his replacement in a Hokie alum.

Matt Fortuna of The Athletic's All-American is reporting that Pittsburgh football recruiting director Mark Diethorn will be named the Director of Player Personnel at Virginia Tech, replacing Chuck Cantor.
Diethorn started his career as a recruiting assistant at Florida under Urban Meyer for two years in which the Gators to put together some impressive classes. Diethorn has been at Pittsburgh for the past six years working his way up to being the recruiting director. During his time at Pitt, the Panthers were solid on the recruiting trail finishing in the top 8 of the ACC in each of the past 3 seasons including a high of fourth in 2016 according to
247 Sports' rankings.
In addition, Diethorn is a Virginia Tech alum so this is a homecoming of sorts for him. While Diethorn has had tons of success recruiting players to Florida and Pittsburgh, it'll probably be a little easier for him to recruit top talents to a place that he likely still knows quite well even with some of the things that have changed since he was in Blacksburg.
Mark Diethorn is a rising name in the recruiting world and a great choice to replace Chuck Cantor in one of the Hokies' most important off-the-field roles.
