Virginia Tech Leads for Three-Star DT Mario Kendricks After Visit

Since offering Mario Kendricks last month, Virginia Tech has emerged as one of his top contenders after making his top 7. Recently, Kendricks took a visit to Blacksburg, and the Hokies made a big impression. https://twitter.com/22problemsss/status/1005904154219466752 Mario Kendricks said that his visit was "tremendous" and that he loves it at Virginia Tech. He added that the Hokies are now the leaders in his recruitment. Kendricks told us that his "favorite thing to see was the facilities and where the players live." He also added that he enjoyed the game of dodgeball that recruits played during their time in Blacksburg. Kendricks also said that this visit "impacted me a lot" and that part of the reason for his visit impacting him a lot was due to "the way the coaches treated me, made feel at home." When we asked Mario Kendricks about why the Hokies are his leader, this is what he told us: "They play in a big conference and produce great defensive linemen," Kendricks said. "Also, the games are always filled with fans, and they’ve played in a numerous amount of bowls games. I also have a good connection with DL coach Charley Wiles." Kendricks described his relationship with Wiles as a "father to son" type of relationship, a significant statement on how strong of a relationship of trust that the two have built over the past couple of months. Kendricks told us that he plans to visit Indiana this upcoming weekend, but has no current intentions to take any more unofficial visits beyond that. In addition, Kendricks said that he does plan on taking an official visit to Virginia Tech this fall. Kendricks told us that he currently doesn't have a timetable for making a decision or cutting down his list of schools, but the Hokies are clearly the school trending quite prominently for his commitment. The Hokies have made Kendricks one of their top defensive line targets, and it hasn't taken long for the Hokies to rise to the top of his recruitment. While recruiting services have Kendricks listed as a defensive end, he has told us in the past that the Hokies are recruiting him as a defensive tackle, one of VT's biggest needs in the 2019 recruiting class. Virginia Tech has risen to the top of Mario Kendricks' recruitment after a "tremendous" visit that left a big impact on him.
