Three-Star DT Mario Kendricks Commits to Virginia Tech

Mario Kendricks announced today that he has decided to commit to Virginia Tech, becoming the Hokies' second defensive line commit alongside three-star DT Norell Pollard. https://twitter.com/22problemsss/status/1013120009353285634?s=19 Since being offered in the spring, Kendricks has become a priority for the Hokies on the defensive line. After a visit in mid-June, Kendricks told us that Virginia Tech was the leader in his recruitment with only one visit remaining to Indiana, a big sign that VT was in great shape to gain his commitment soon. One of the biggest reasons for Kendricks' commitment is likely his relationship with DL coach Charley Wiles. Kendricks previously described his relationship with Wiles as being "father to son" like, a very powerful comment on the relationship the two have built. While the recruiting services have Kendricks listed as a defensive end, Kendricks will be coming to Virginia Tech to play defensive tackle and has the size to do so at 6'1'' and 275 pounds according to 247 Sports. With Kendricks on board, Justin Fuente now has had more than one commit from the state of Florida in his first four VT recruiting classes. Congrats to Mario Kendricks on his commitment to Virginia Tech.
