Elite 2020 RB Chris Tyree Hoping to Visit Virginia Tech This Fall

VT Huddle 1
Chris Tyree has emerged as one of the best running back prospects in the country in the 2020 class and the latest star RB recruit from the state of Virginia. Recently, we caught up with Tyree to see where he currently stands in his recruitment. "I haven’t narrowed my list down at this point. I still have a few schools I want to visit before I do that. I do have some schools that I’ve developed a pretty good relationship with the coaching staff. Those are VT, UVA, PSU, MD, FSU, Miss St, and Stanford," Tyree told us. Among the Hokies' coaching staff, Tyree told us that while he's been building a strong relationship with Justin Fuente and Bud Foster, he is closest with RBs coach Zohn Burden. What stands out about his relationship with Zohn Burden? "I like him because he’s straight to the point without sugarcoating anything," Tyree told us. While Tyree is still a ways away from the collegiate level, he profiles as a versatile speed back who could be a playmaker both in the backfield and in the passing game whether that's coming out of the backfield or in the slot. Tyree also believes he would fit quite well in Justin Fuente's offense. "I think I would be able to fit into VT's offense nicely. I have the ability to play in the backfield and at receiver," Tyree told us. Looking ahead to the fall, Tyree told us that he is hoping to take visits for games at Virginia Tech, Penn State, Florida State, and Mississippi State. Tyree last visited VT in the early part of 2018 while he went far South last month visiting Florida State, Mississippi State, and Florida. At this point, the Hokies are a serious contender in Tyree's recruitment in large part due to the relationship they've built with Zohn Burden. Penn State and Florida State have had some success in Virginia and should be considered major contenders. Mississippi State should also be seen as a serious contender as Tyree has a strong relationship with MSU assistant Charles Huff who initially recruited Tyree at Penn State before following Joe Moorhead to Starkville after the 2017 season. The Hokies continue to be in a good place in Chris Tyree's recruitment as one of the top contenders for the elite Richmond running back. However, the Hokies still have plenty of work ahead in a recruitment that has unsurprisingly drawn national interest.
