With freshmen football players arriving, Virginia Tech updated their roster which didn’t include OT Thomas Jarrett Hopple with VT confirming that Hopple has decided to transfer away from VT.
#Hokies OT Jarrett Hopple has left the football team and intends to transfer, a Virginia Tech spokesperson confirmed. Team released updated roster this morning.

Hopple would have been a redshirt sophomore this fall and will have at least two years of eligibility remaining. Hopple was a three-star offensive tackle coming out of high school in the 757 and chose the Hokies over West Virginia, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and others.
Hopple’s departure shouldn’t have an impact on VT’s 2018 plans as Hopple was not expected to be a part of the two-deep this fall. The departure of Hopple does open up another scholarship for the Hokies that should help VT fit their smaller than normal recruiting class with VT having a very small senior class.
