Virginia Tech Makes the Top 4 for Three-Star DT D'Von Ellies

Trevon Hill Wiles Mihota 1
Three-star DT D'Von Ellies released his top 4 today on Twitter which included Virginia Tech. https://twitter.com/dfesquire/status/1019585113556996098 The Hokies made the cut for Ellies alongside Ohio State, West Virginia, and Rutgers. While some wondered if Ellies was about to make a decision, Ellies has instead decided to narrow down the focus of his recruitment as the dead period nears its end. However, Ellies doesn't appear to be too far away from making a decision. Since offering him this past May, Virginia Tech has made Ellies one of their top priorities at defensive tackle. Though numbers are tight and the Hokies have two DT commits, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Hokies add a third defensive tackle with VT losing starting DTs Ricky Walker and Vinny Mihota after the 2018 season. Virginia Tech does have a connection to Ellies as the three-star DT was teammates with new Hokie DeJuan Ellis. While it's unknown how close Ellis and Ellies are, it definitely could be something that can give the Hokies an edge. Ohio State is the arguable frontrunner for Ellies especially with the interest that Ellies has shown in the Buckeyes on social media. West Virginia is definitely a team to keep an eye on as well while Rutgers received a visit from Ellies earlier this spring according to 247 Sports and can't be ruled out either.
