Hokies Basketball: Florida State at Virginia Tech Prediction

The Virginia Tech Hokies lost the first of two games against the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee. The Seminoles had their best shooting performance of their season in the first half of that game as they seemed to not be able to miss from beyond the arc even though they had struggled all season before that game. Today, the Hokies will look to get a little redemption on a day where the Hokie Club is celebrating their 30th anniversary. In their last four games, the Hokies are 1-3 but all three losses were by three points or less at home against Virginia, and on the road against Wake Forest and Syracuse. This game is a great opportunity for the Hokies to get some momentum with Georgia Tech being another winnable game on Monday night. Satchel Pierce will need to step up against Florida State's tremendous size with Pierce being the only big man above 6'8''. Pierce is improving and should play better in this game than he did in the first matchup between the Hokies and the Seminoles. Justin Bibbs is starting to gain some confidence and coming back to Blacksburg to play should help a lot. Bibbs is ready to have a big game like he did the first time the Hokies played Florida State. No one should be surpried if Bibbs has at least 20 points today against the Seminoles with a few threes to help Virginia Tech out. Of course, the Seminoles also have Xavier Rathan-Mays who has been a very effective scorer for Florida State. Don't be surprised if Rathan-Mays also has a very strong game for the Seminoles with at least 18 points as the Hokies will have a hard time slowing him down. One big difference will be the fact that Florida State struggles from beyond the arc shooting only 28% from deep while the Hokies are shooting 39.1% from three. The Seminoles rose to the occasion on their home floor, but don't expect that to be the case in this game. Adam Smith has a lot of confidence from beyond the arc right now, and will have at least 3 to 4 three-pointers in this game. Smith will be a difference maker that the Seminoles will have a hard time overcoming in this game. The Hokies will be ready for this game, and the Seminoles will have some struggles on the road today. Virginia Tech will get their second ACC win of the season and beat Florida State 74-67.
