Hokies Football: Virginia Tech is in Top 5 for 2017 Four-Star DT Eric Crosby

National Signing Day is almost here for the Class of 2016 but even with Wednesday not being here just yet, programs are already beginning to shift their focus onto the Class of 2017. One of the top 2017 recruits from hat is a loaded 757 announced his early top 5, and Hokie fans will likely be happy. https://twitter.com/ekm2781/status/694288484966764546 2017 four-star DT Eric Crosby of Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia announced his top 5 that included Virginia Tech, Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, and N.C. State. Crosby has already 16 offers with multiple top schools missing out on his early top 5 including Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and North Carolina along with in-state Virginia. Crosby is one of the top national recruits in 2017 with Rivals ranking him 119th nationally, ESPN ranking him 120th, and the 247 Sports Composting ranking him 82nd. Crosby is ranked as the fifth best DT by the 247 Sports Composite, ninth best by ESPN, and eighth best by Rivals. What makes Crosby even more important for the Hokies is his in-state ranking as Rivals has him as the fifth best 2017 recruit in the Commonwealth, ESPN has him fourth, and the 247 Sports Composite has him third among Virginia juniors. Crosby was teammates this past season with fellow highly-regarded juniors Khalan Laborn and Tahj Capehart with all three being top targets for the Hokies. Justin Fuente and his staff have put an emphasis on 757 recruiting knowing that the 757 is loaded more than usual for that region in the Class of 2017. Crosby will be one of the multiple top Virginia recruits that Justin Fuente will have to go up against Alabama, Clemson, and Tennessee for with all three programs hoping to continue to have great success raiding the 757. The retention of Zohn Burden could end up making a big impact in this race while Galen Scott will also be key with Scott being Crosby's position coach if he chooses VT. This recruitment still has a long ways to go, but the Hokies have gotten off to a good start being in the top 5 for highly-regarded 2017 DT Eric Crosby.
