Hokies Football: Three-Star ATH Caleb Farley Commits to Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech Hokies gained some recruiting momentum a few weeks when they got three commitments in three days from QB Hendon Hooker, and LBs Rayshard Ashby and Aundre Kearney with that trio joining DE Tyjuan Garbutt and DB Devante Smith. The Hokies have been somewhat quiet in terms of getting commitments but with a chance to make a big move over the next two weeks, the Hokies gained some recruiting momentum today. https://twitter.com/IamCalebFarley/status/721043235045580804 Three-star athlete Caleb Farley of Maiden High School in Maiden, North Carolina became the Hokies' sixth overall commit and second commit from the state of North Carolina. Farley currently has offers from Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Ohio, and Old Dominion; and is ranked as the 69th best athlete and 27th best player from North Carolina by the 247 Sports Composite. Farley definitely can add plenty of weight to his 6'3'', 180-pound frame and while he could potentially play QB for the Hokies, a transition to WR seems like a good fit given his size and above-average speed. James Shibest was the primary recruiter for Farley and has some momentum on the recruiting trail in gaining commitments from Farley and 2016 punter Brandon Nickle this past week. Reports also say that Justin Fuente was also highly involved in going after Farley so closing on him now about two months before he was scheduled to commit is quite a good job by Fuente and Shibest. With the Hokies still in pursuit of a few other players in North Carolina including highly-regarded three-star TE Drake Deiuliis, having both Farley and Hendon Hooker on board can only be a boost for the Hokies along with pursuing top 2018 NC recruits Dax Hollifield and Tre Turner. Caleb Farley is a solid addition, but also gives the Hokies some momentum ahead of Eric Crosby's commitment next week and the Spring Game in eight days.
