Hokies Basketball: Ahmed Hill and Ty Outlaw Have Both Been Fully Cleared

Fans of Virginia Tech basketball have had plenty of reasons to be excited about next season recently with multiple highly-regarded sports sites having the Hokies in their preseason top 25s while both ESPN and Bleacher Report have included the Hokies in their latest Bracketologies. Today, the Hokies received some good news about who will be able to begin practicing right now and play next season. https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/739814804332806144 https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/739839209717018625 Both Ahmed Hill and Ty Outlaw have been formally cleared to participate in all basketball activities which is huge news for the Hokies as they set their sights on making their first NCAA Tournament appearance under Buzz Williams. Hill was expected to be cleared at some point in the future while there was a time when many didn't think Outlaw would ever play for the Hokies due to the medical condition that kept him out last season. Looking ahead to next season, Ahmed Hill seems likely to be part of the starting backcourt as someone who is a very good defensive player and quality shooter along with having a tremendous work ethic on and off the court. If the Hokies had Hill this past season, there is a very good chance that Virginia Tech would have made the 2016 NCAA Tournament based on the way they played without him. Since Ty Outlaw has not played a single game for the Hokies yet, he is by default more of an unknown but Outlaw has the skill set to be a dangerous sixth man-type wing scorer coming off the bench that could even force his way into the lineup depending on how good he really turns out to be. Buzz Williams has also had his fair share of success in the past with JUCO players including Jimmy Butler, and Outlaw has the making of one of Williams's best JUCO gets. Virginia Tech fans have plenty of reason to be happy now that Ahmed Hill and Ty Outlaw have both been cleared to return to all basketball activities.
