Hokies Football: Bruce Smith, Peyton Manning Will Be A Part Of Battle At Bristol Coin Toss

The soon-to-be most-attended game in college football history, the Battle at Bristol, between the Virginia Tech Hokies and Tennessee Volunteers is already getting the spotlight in the second week of the season with the game receiving ABC's 8pm primetime college football spot. With the game basically sold out at this point besides luxury suite tickets, details about festivities around the game have been leaking including a major concert headlined by Kenny Chesney and The Band Perry the night before kickoff. Today, news leaked about two major figures that will be in attendance and on the field right before kickoff. https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/745013453836845056 Gridiron Now is reporting that Virginia Tech legend Bruce Smith and Tennessee legend Peyton Manning will be on the field for the coin toss for this Saturday night showdown. With this report leaking today and Virginia Tech's football official Twitter tweeting this out, a formal press release about the involvement of Smith and Manning seems likely to happen in the coming days. Having Smith and Manning is unsurprising given the spectacle of this game in the middle of a NASCAR with over 150,00 fans set to be in-attendance and millions watching from around the country. Bruce Smith was probably going to be somewhere around the sidelines pregame anyway as he is at many games in Blacksburg while this will likely be one of Peyton Manning's first public appearances after his retirement. However, one thing that does seem likely is that Smith and Manning won't be the only famous alums or people with ties to these programs that will be on the field for the coin toss. What would be great to also see is Frank Beamer and former Tennessee legendary coach Phillip Fulmer also be on the field for the coin toss. There is no doubt that it will be very appropriate to have two of the greatest players in Virginia Tech's and Tennessee's football histories in Bruce Smith and Peyton Manning on the field for what will be the most-attended game in college football history.
