Hokies Football: WR Isaiah Ford Named 2016 Preseason Second Team All-American By Athlon Sports

Entering the 2016 football season, the biggest star for Virginia Tech football is actually on offense with junior WR Isaiah Ford getting tons of national recognition after being the best wide receiver in the ACC last year and earning All-ACC First Team honors in 2015. After Ford's big 2015 season, many expect the Florida native to receive many preseason honors and those started today. https://twitter.com/AthlonSports/status/745700658716639232 Athlon Sports released their preseason 2016 All-American teams with Isaiah Ford being named to the second team. Ford was previously named to Athlon Sports' 2016 Preseason All-ACC First Team with Bucky Hodges and Ken Ekanem being named to the second team; Wyatt Teller, Travon McMillian, and Chuck Clark being named to the third team; and Jonathan McLaughlin and Brandon Facyson being named to the fourth team. Based on Ford being the first receiver listed, Athlon Sports also has Ford as the third best wide receiver in the nation entering the 2016 season with Alabama's Calvin Ridley and USC's JuJu Smith-Schuster ahead of him as the two first team wide receivers. Ford has developed into one of America's top wide receivers and give Hokies' fans hope for a very good passing attack in 2016 even with the quarterback uncertainty. Ford is already well on his way to going down as the greatest wide receiver in Virginia Tech history after becoming the first Hokie to ever have over 1,000 receiving yards (1,164) in a season in 2015 along with breaking the Virginia Tech single-season records for most receptions (75) and receiving touchdowns (11). Ford is always close to holding the three big Virginia Tech career receiving records as he only needs what would be a career low 54 receptions to break Jarrett Boykin's record of 183 receptions while also needing only 6 receiving touchdowns to break Antonio Freeman's record of 22 career receiving touchdowns. Ford also needs 1,012 receiving yards to break Boykin's record of 2,884 career receiving yards, something that seems very in reach. The most impressive thing is that Ford can break all three of those career records as a junior. Isaiah Ford is one of the best wide receivers in college football entering the 2016 and is on his way to also going down as the greatest wide receiver in Virginia Tech football history.
