Hokies Football: WR Isaiah Ford Named to 2016 Preseason All-ACC Team

Last week, the ACC hosted their annual ACC Kickoff with coaches, players, and media from across the ACC and country meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, the ACC revealed its Preseason All-ACC team after receiving votes for ACC media members. Once again, the Hokies were not shut out from the team. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/758303087412903937 Junior WR Isaiah Ford was named to the 2016 Preseason All-ACC Team today as Virginia Tech's lone representative. Ford tied with Clemson WR Artavis Scott for the most votes among wide receivers with 112 while being one of 16 players to receive over 100 votes. Clemson and Florida State dominated this Preseason All-ACC team in general with the Tigers having 10 players selected and the Seminoles having 5. After Ford, only Bucky Hodges and Ken Ekanem received more than 20 votes with Hodges surprisingly coming in third and Ekanem coming fourth at their respective positions. However, there is no surprise that Ford made the team though it is slightly surprising that he did not alone receive the most votes among wide receivers after being the only ACC WR to have more than 1,000 receiving yards last season. Ford emerged last season as the best receiver in the ACC and enters this season as one of the top 8 receivers in America with a good chance to contend for a spot on an All-American team this season. Ford will look to once again shatter Virginia Tech receiving records after he broke three single-season records last season with 75 receptions for 1,164 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Ford also has a very good shot of breaking some Virginia Tech career records as he is only 6 more receiving touchdowns, 54 receptions, and 1,012 receiving yards to take all three of those career records. There is a chance that Isaiah Ford could be gone after this season but whether he is or isn't, Ford has a great opportunity to build a resume that could make him considered as the greatest wide receiver to ever touch the field for the Hokies.
